Only IIC’s appointed Imam is permitted to conduct the Nikah ceremony, which must take place on IIC premises or at an approved designated venue.
Proof of identity (original documents only) of both bride and groom must be submitted with this application. Acceptable forms of ID include passports or official documents carrying a photograph, date of birth, and UK residency status.
The bride and groom must each sign a declaration confirming that they are not currently married to anyone else and are legally entitled to marry under UK Law.
A civil marriage at a local registry office is highly recommended and remains the responsibility of the couple/applicants.
No public speeches, lectures, media distribution, or data collection from guests is permitted during the ceremony without prior written consent from IIC.
Applicants must adhere to the Terms & Conditions for Use of IIC Premises, available upon request or attached to this form.
The couple must attend a pre-marriage session (minimum 1 hour) with the appointed Imam prior to the ceremony. This meeting, scheduled at a mutually convenient time, will address Islamic guidance on marriage and personal circumstances. Discussions will remain confidential, except where intervention by the IIC Board of Trustees becomes necessary.
A minimum of 14 days’ notice is required before the intended ceremony date to allow time for administrative checks and confirmations.
IIC reserves the right to refuse the ceremony if any checks or prerequisites are not satisfactorily met.
Ceremonies held in the prayer hall must commence on time, must not conflict with jamaat (congregational) prayer times, and all participants must follow the dress code outlined in IIC’s premises policy. No food or drink is allowed in the prayer hall.
Video or audio recording in the prayer hall is strictly prohibited unless prior written approval is granted. IIC-owned equipment is not available for public use.
